Kyuhyun nervously paced around backstage. His hands felt clammy and his throat felt dry. He didn’t think he could do this.
“Yo, hey, Kyuhyun~ snap out of it. You’ll be alright. Nothing to worry about.”
“But what if he doesn’t –“ A finger to his lips stopped his rambling.
Ryeowook smiled as he pulled his finger away after making sure Kyuhyun would stop talking. “Don’t worry. He’ll show up. I was there when he received that giant bouquet of roses and your note. He’s very anxious to meet his secret admirer that’s been leaving him roses. Says he dreams about him almost nightly. Keeps all the roses in a vase on his desk at home.”
“He really said that?”
Ryeowook nodded. “Yes, so don’t worry. Everything will turn out well. Now go get a drink of water and I’ll go check on everything else.”
Ryeowook slipped out the back door and headed towards the front of the hall. He glanced at his phone and noted the time. He skipped off in search of his quarry. He found him right where he had last seen him, studying in the library.
“Hey Sungmin~ how’s the studying going?”
“Okay but not fun. Willing to take a break. Why? What’s up?” Sungmin turned to look at Ryeowook.
“Have you checked the time? Don’t you have a date with your secret admirer soon?” Ryeowook smiled at Sungmin.
Sungmin checked his phone and gasped. “Oh my gawd! I’m going to be late. Can you clean up my stuff? I’ll get it from you later.”
“Sure thing.” Ryeowook smiled as he watched Sungmin race off.
The bunny has left the building. Heading your way.
Good luck, GameKyu~ I know you’ll kill it.
Ryeowook hummed as he cleaned up Sungmin’s things.
Sungmin headed towards the auditorium where he was suppose to meet his secret admirer. There was a note attached to the door. He pulled it off and read it before slipping inside.
On stage was a lone piano and mic stand. Sungmin carefully picked his way through the aisle and walked up onto the stage. The moment he stood center stage, the lights turned off and a single spotlight illuminated a figure sitting at the piano.
Sungmin’s eyes widened as he took in Kyuhyun smiling at him from behind the piano. The first notes rang out before Kyuhyun began to sing a ballad of love.
Kyuhyun saw the tears fill Sungmin’s eyes. He stopped and walked over just as the first tear fell and gently wiped it away.
“Sungmin, I know I haven’t been the nicest guy towards you and believe me when I didn’t plan on that happening. It’s just that you’re so cute and sweet and adorable and I didn’t know how to handle how you made me feel so I lashed out against you. And by the time, I realized how wrong it was, the damage had already been done. I’ve worked hard to get you to see me differently, to right the wrong I caused you. Now we’re on a brand new ground, our relationship has been wiped as clean as it can get. So Sungmin,” Kyuhyun got down on one knee. “For all these years, I’ve loved you. Can you find it in your heart to accept my love and be my boyfriend?”
Sungmin stared down at Kyuhyun, a turbulence of emotions rolling around in his head and stomach. “I-I-“
“I know I can’t expect you to love me so soon or right away but please give me the chance. I’ll show you how much I love you, how much you mean to me. I just want to make you the happiest person ever. Please let me have this chance.” Kyuhyun bowed his head as he pulled out a single red rose.
Sungmin stared at the rose and at Kyuhyun. “I-I…can you give me some time?”
Kyuhyun stood up and stared into Sungmin’s eyes. He gave a small sad smile and nodded his head.
Sungmin walked off the stage and collapsed into one of the auditorium chairs. He hid his face behind his hands and let all the emotion pore through him. He heard Kyuhyun slowly descend the stage and make his way over. Before he could walk away, Sungmin reached out to grab his wrist. He stood up and looked Kyuhyun directly in the eye before his hand came out and slapped him across the face.
Before Kyuhyun could react, he was pulled in for a kiss. Suddenly, he was pushed away and his head was left spinning from the slap and the kiss. He didn’t get a chance to think about anything else because his arms were full of Sungmin, hugging him tightly. He bent his head and found his lips connected with Sungmin. The two stood there kissing until a door opening drew their attention away.
Ryeowook stood in the doorway, smirking at the two. “Well…seems like things turned out well. You’re gonna have a nasty bruise there, Kyuhyun, better put some ice on it or something. I’ll talk to you guys later. Have fun on your date. I know you’re planning one. So have fun~ I’ll explain it to Teukie and the others. Toodles~”
He blew a kiss at them before shutting the door. Sungmin turned to see Kyuhyun flushed a bright red.
“So uh…would you like to go out for dinner?”
Sungmin smiled. “Sure.”
Ryeowook sat at his desk, looking over his homework assignments. Somehow, things had piled up on him without him even realizing it. He sighed and began to work. He ignored the text messages and emails and instant messages the others sent him, just replying once with a generic message and then shutting everything off.
He woke up the next morning to a rash of emails, voicemails, and texts from everyone, most coming from Leeteuk or Heechul, a few from Donghae and Eunhyuk, maybe one or two from Sungmin and Kyuhyun.
Look, I’ll meet you all for lunch. Then you can ask questions, make comments, etc. Bye. I’ll meet you at the usual.
Heechul, ask one of the others if you don’t know.
Ryeowook got dressed and headed out the door, grabbing his bag.
Ryeowook smiled as he looked at all his friends gathered around the table. There was one awkward moment when Sungmin showed up with Kyuhyun but everyone moved past it real quickly. Eunhyuk and Donghae were even teasing them now.
“Alright, so we need to discuss the wedding. It’s taking place in less than 2 weeks and I want to make sure everyone knows what’s going on.” Heechul pulled out his wedding planner binder with all the notes and details about Leeteuk and Kangin’s wedding. He pulled out pieces of paper that he passed out to everyone.
“So take a look at this, it’s the schedule for the event. The invitations were already sent out and almost everyone has RSVP. The caterer has confirmed the menu and will be all set by the time the reception begins. Decorations are in order and the priest and other such arrangements have been made. As you can see on the sheet, these are everyone’s roles, color coded to make it easier.”
Everyone glanced at their sheet and made noises of agreement.
“So the rehearsal will take place the night before the wedding. Dress nice but you don’t have to dress up. I want you all there. It’s just going to be a quick run-through but make sure you’re there and nothing goes wrong. We don’t want anything to mess up Leeteuk and Kangin’s wedding day. Got it?”
Everyone nodded their heads.
“Good, now let’s eat ‘cause I’m starving then we’ll go shopping.” Heechul smiled as he waved a waiter over.
Ryeowook fixed his tie as he checked his reflection in the mirror. Yesterday was the rehearsal that had gone off without a hitch to Heechul’s relief. He just hoped the same thing happen today as well because he couldn’t remember if it was a good or bad sign if the rehearsal didn’t have an issue at all.
He looked around the room to notice Sungmin pacing the floor and Eunhyuk fidgeting in his chair. Leeteuk was in front of the mirror with Heechul fussing over him.
A knock sounded at the door. “Everyone’s in place and ready to get started.”
“Alright, just give me a moment.” Heechul glanced over Leeteuk one more time before giving his approval. “Alright people, let’s get going. Time to see these two lovebirds get married.”
Heechul led the way out of the room, followed by Sungmin, Eunhyuk, Ryeowook, and Leeteuk. Zhoumi stood at the double doors that led into the hall where Kangin and Leeteuk would be married.
“Shall I cue the music?” Heechul nodded.
The doors opened and the wedding began.
Ryeowook smiled as he watched Kangin and Leeteuk have their first dance as a married couple. They looked so happy together. He looked at his table and noticed everyone absorbed in their partners; it made him long for a partner as well but he had no one really, even if he did have someone in mind.
“Hello, may I have this dance?”
Ryeowook stared up in shock. “Yesung?”
Yesung gave a small smile as he held out his hand towards him.
Ryeowook hesitated before giving Yesung his hand. He was gently pulled up and led to the dance floor. He missed the looks his friends gave him.
Yesung pulled Ryeowook close as they swayed to the music.
“What are you doing here?”
“I…I was invited…by Heechul with Leeteuk’s approval.”
“Heechul? Why would Chullie umma invite you to Leeteuk’s wedding?”
Yesung cleared his throat. “Uh…I-I’m not really sure. But uh…how are you enjoying it so far?”
Ryeowook smiled up at Yesung. “It’s good. I hope you’re enjoying yourself.”
“Well, I have to admit my night got better when you agreed to dance with me.”
Color flooded Ryeowook’s cheeks as he turned his head away. He noticed Heechul and Hankyung dancing together. Heechul caught his eye and winked. He quickly turned his head away and saw Kyuhyun and Sungmin dancing a few feet away and Eunhyuk and Donghae dancing together. He turned back towards Yesung to see him smiling down at him.
“Want to go for a walk?” Yesung took Ryeowook’s hand and led him out towards a balcony. They stopped by the railing and looked out at the scenery.
“So…I…” Yesung coughed to clear the sudden lump in his throat. “I-I know I may be presuming some things but it seems like you might have feelings for me and well…I-I just want you to know that I have the same feelings.”
“And what feelings are these?” Ryeowook turned towards Yesung whose face was in shadows.
“Love? You love me?” Ryeowook looked at Yesung with a raised eyebrow.
“Uh…yeah…I-I think so.”
“You think so? Pray tell me why you think you love me.” Ryeowook clasped his hands behind his back.
“Uh well…I-I think you’re cute, sexy, handsome, and just being around you makes my stomach flip and my heart clench.” Yesung looked at Ryeowook who was just staring at him, saying nothing. “And well…when you fainted, I was really worried for you and have tried my best to help you get better even if my methods are a bit unorthodox but that’s what Hankyung suggested and well it seemed to work and I’m rambling. But like I really do care for you, a lot. Like the first time I saw you, I just had this instant attraction to you that I kind of didn’t handle very well which lead to some misunderstandings between us and well – mmph.”
Ryeowook’s lips stopped Yesung’s confession, or rambling as it was turning out to be, He pulled away with a smile. “I guess I can accept your confession, as badly spoken at it is. But I should let you know I love you too and probably have since I first saw you. Even when you were making an ass of yourself, I couldn’t help liking you. So, you gonna be my boyfriend now or what?”
“Yes he is, if he’s smart and he should be after all the mistakes he’s been making.” The two turned to see Kyuhyun and the rest of their friends standing in the doorway.
“If he isn’t, as his cousin, I have the right to smack some sense into him.”
“Wait, what?!?!?!?!?” Everyone turned to look at Heechul. “He’s your cousin?”
“A sad excuse of a cousin considering how much he’s messed this up but he came around.” Heechul shook his head and smirked. “Finally got him now, don’t you Jongwoon-ah?”
Yesung growled. “I told you not to call me that.”
“Whatever, Jongwoon-ah. While I’m at it, want another tidbit to make this small world even smaller?” Heechul walked over to the two of them by the balcony. “When Jongwoon-ah was a little boy, not much older than 10 or so, somewhere around the time you and Hankyung were taking that cooking class together, he saw this little boy and fell instantly in love. But being the shy boy he was, he never spoke to this boy and never saw him again. Of course, I’m sure you can tell who this little boy was.”
He smirked at the two shocked faces staring back at him. “Didn’t I tell you it was a small world? And it just got smaller.”
“And about to get even smaller.” Two gentlemen strolled through the group and stood in front of them.
“Siwon?” Ryeowook smiled brightly as he rushed up to the tall male and hugged him tightly.
“Siwon? Who’s Siwon?”
“Ryeowook and Kangin’s cousin and Kibum’s boyfriend.”
“KIBUM’S BOYFRIEND?!?!?!?!” Yesung and Kyuhyun turned to their other friend in disbelief.
He shrugged as he wrapped an arm around Siwon’s waist, resting his head on his shoulder. “While you guys were busy being googly eyed and wrapped up in your boys, I went out, met Siwon, and got together to him all within a week of meeting him. Which was a lot faster than you guys.”
“I think the record for longest crush, probably goes to Yesung or Kyuhyun. It’s a close tie.” Sungmin smirked as Kyuhyun pouted. He smiled and pecked his cheek as he wrapped his arms around him.
“Well Leeteuk, I think your wedding was a success and you definitely owe me some money.” Heechul grinned as he looked over at the newly married couple.
“Later. Today’s my special day so I don’t want to ruin it with your dealings.”
“Honey, I planned this wedding. You’re already in my dealings.” Heechul laughed as everyone looked on with a mix of sympathy and amusement.
“Hey, hey, hey, who said you guys could all huddle together. Oh hey, Siwon, glad you could make it. But can you guys break it up? Especially the married couple. Other guests need your attention as well. You see these guys like everyday.” Zhoumi stuck his head in amongst the crowd, staring at each of them.
“Wait, how do you know Siwon, Zhoumi?”
Zhoumi shrugged his shoulders. “It’s a small world. He’s my cousin. Now come on and move your ass.”
He turned away to walk back to Henry.
Everyone just looked at each other, a bit unsure of what just happened. “I guess it really is a small world.”
“Yep, now let’s go back in and enjoy the rest of the reception.” Everyone walked back in except for Yesung and Ryeowook. He kept a hold of Ryeowook’s wrist to keep him in place. Ryeowook looked at him confused.
Yesung smiled down, cupped the back of his neck and pulled him in for a loving kiss. “There, I’ll consider that our first kiss.”
Ryeowook smirked. “Oh really? I think I can accept that considering I initiated the other kiss and the first time we kissed, you force fed me food.”
“Hey~ I told you that’s what Hankyung told me to do.”
“I’m sure.” Ryeowook laughed a kissed Yesung’s pout. “Come on, let’s go back inside. I want to slow dance with you just so I can have my hands all over you.”
Yesung’s eyes widened as Ryeowook pulled him towards the dance floor.
Several years later...
Everyone smiled as they watched Ryeowook walk down the aisle towards Yesung. Both had a look of love on their face that made guests want to sigh and gag at how much love was evident between the two.
Ryeowook smiled brightly when he reached Yesung at the end of the aisle. Yesung held his hand and brought it to his lips for a kiss.
“Do you take him as your lawfully wedded husband?”
