Title: Love-torn
Pairing: Yewook
Word Count: 3703
Summary: Yesung is sent on a mission to kill but gets distracted time and time again by a young girl named Ryeowook. In the end, what will he listen to: his head or his heart?

Yesung stared at the house. He quickly scans the area, checking over everything before quickly and quietly climbing up the tree. He jumped from limb to limb, making as little noise as possible.
He jumped onto the balcony and quickly opened the French doors. He quietly slipped into the room and shut the door. His eyes quickly adjusted to the light. He noticed a lump on the bed and quietly made his way over.
The blade slipped easily into his hands.
He raised it over his head, ready to strike, when a blade sunk itself into his upper arm. He gripped his arm and braced himself for an attack. He was barely ready when an arm came around him and a blade placed around his neck.
He moved his head a tiny bit and felt the blade dig into his neck. Blood ran down his neck and onto the blade.
“Who are you?”
“Your deepest desire.”
Yesung’s eyes widened as a quick kiss was placed on his lips right before he was pushed off the balcony.

Yesung sat in the café, sipping his coffee. He stared out the window, looking at the passerbys.
A girl walked past with her friend.
Yesung finished his drink before grabbing his bag and leaving.
The girl waved goodbye to her friend at the bus stop before crossing the street.
Yesung quickened his pace.
A spot cleared and the girl was standing in front of him in perfect range.
He reached into his bag.
Someone bumped into him and he grabbed them to stop them from falling.
“Are you okay?” He felt his heart stop when he looked at the person.
She was small and delicate with soft brown waves falling around her perfectly shaped face. She was wearing a cropped leather jacket with skinny jeans.
She dusted herself off before looking up at Yesung with a smile. “Yes, I’m fine. Sorry, I wasn’t paying attention to where I was going.”
“No, the fault’s all mine.” He looked up and saw the girl gone. He looked back at her with a smile. “Why don’t I make it up to you with a cup of coffee?”
Yesung smiled and held out his hand. She blushed and shyly put her hand in his. Yesung grinned and led them to this cute little café a block away. He ordered two coffees and brought it over to their little table in the back.
“Sorry, I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Yesung.”
“Hi, I’m Ryeowook.”
“Ryeowook…that’s a pretty name.”
“Thank you.” Ryeowook blushed and took a sip of her coffee.
“So what do you do?”
“Oh, I’m still a college student.” Ryeowook laughed at Yesung’s expression. “Sorry, actually I just graduated. Now I’m on the hunt for a job. What about you?
“I’m a freelancer, traveling the world, doing odd jobs here and there.”
“Wow…I wish I could travel the world. Judging from the way you look, you’ve probably been everywhere.”
“The way I look?”
“Uh…yeah because you look so-so,” Ryeowook blushed, “experienced.”
“Uh…well you look so-so handsome and suave like you’ve done things other people haven’t. And you have so many scars.”
Yesung looked down at his arms. He had many scars on his arms and move covered by clothing. “I guess I see what you’re trying to say. Do you not like scars?”
“Uh…no…I-I don’t mind them. I-I uh…” Ryeowook looked at her watch. “Oh no. Sorry but I forgot I had an appointment.”
She took one last sip of her drink. “It was nice to meet you.” She smiled and waved before rushing out of the café.
Yesung watched as she left, taking a tiny part of his heart with her.

Yesung was sitting at another coffee shop inside the local mall. He read the newspaper as he watched all the different people shop.
A girl was looking at clothes with a few friends. She said something to her friends before moving away to go to the bathroom.
Yesung folded the paper before putting it down. He grabbed his bag and made his way to the bathroom.
He was almost there when a flash of brown hair appeared at the corner of his eye. He turned his head and spotted Ryeowook a few feet away, looking at accessories.
He glanced at the bathroom then back at Ryeowook. He saw her talk and smile with the shopkeeper but the moment she laughed, he was lost.
He let his feet carry him to where his heart was.
Ryeowook looked up in surprise before giving Yesung a bright smile. “Hi, what are you doing here?”
“I was just enjoying a nice cup of coffee. What are you doing?”
“Just looking around.” Yesung saw her fingers playing with a little clip. “So what are you going to do now?”
“Wait to see if a beautiful college grad wants to have dinner with me.”
Ryeowook frowned for a bit until the meaning of the sentence hit her. She blushed a slight pink and looked away for a moment.
Yesung grinned as he waited for her answer.
She took a deep breath before looking at Yesung. She still had a light blush on her cheek.
Ryeowook shyly nodded her head. Yesung smiled and took Ryeowook’s hand.
He led her to a cozy little restaurant a few streets away. They got a private table in the back.
“So how is the job hunt going?”
“A little better but still having some trouble.”
“Aww, well hopefully you can sort out that trouble soon.”
“Yeah…I hope so too. So how’s your job?”
“Alright but having trouble as well.”
“Oh…anything I could help you with?”
“Maybe…tomorrow I have to go to the amusement partk and I was wondering if you wanted to go with me?”
Ryeowook smiled brightly. “Sure. I always wanted to go.”
Yesung smiled. “That’s good. So tomorrow morning, we’ll meet in front of the amusement park.”
Ryeowook nodded and smiled before digging into her food. The rest of the meal passed in amicable silence.
When the meal ended, Yesung took Ryeowook’s hand and took her to a nearby park. The two wandered around, taking in the night scenery, when Ryeowook let out a little squeal and tugged Yesung to a cute little bakery.
He smiled as he watched her go from display to display, cooing about this cake or that cake.
“Ooo…can we get this one?”
Yesung smiled as he looked over to see Ryeowook smiling brightly while pointing to a cute little pastry decorated with fruits. He walked over and wrapped his arm around her waist, placing a kiss on her cheek.
“Sure.” He ordered and paid for the cake while Ryeowook blushed a pretty shade of pink in his arms. He thanked the cashier and keeping the arm around Ryeowook, took the box and led her to a nearby café. He ordered coffee for the both of them and they sat down and enjoyed the cake together.
Yesung took a piece of cake and held it up to Ryeowook’s mouth. She blushed a light pink before accepting it. Yesung smiled as he watched Ryeowook feed him a bit as well. Soon the cake was all gone.
Ryeowook looked at her watch and gasped. “Oh no, I have to get home before I get in trouble. Sorry, Yesung, but I’ll see you tomorrow.”
She grabbed her bag, gave Yesung a kiss on the cheek, and bolted out of the café, leaving Yesung to watch another part of his heart leave him.

Yesung couldn’t wipe the grin off his face as he got ready for his date with Ryeowook. They were going to the amusement park so he decided to dress casually but still look nice. He put on his black jeans and black v-neck. He fixed his hair and left his house.
He stood near the entrance of the amusement park, impatiently waiting for Ryeowook. The moment he saw Ryeowook his hear raced, his eyes popped, and his jaw dropped.
Ryeowook wore a cute little frilly skirt with a simple shirt and vest. A cute little ribbon was placed in her wavy hair. She looked so innocent and adorable Yesung wanted to snatch her up and take her away to protect her from the harsh realities of life.
Yesung saw Ryeowook looking around so he waved his hand to get her attention. She smiled and waved as she walked towards him. He leaned down and kissed her cheek as their hands laced together.
“Hi. You look very pretty today.”
“Th-th-thanks. You look nice too.”
Yesung grinned. “Thank you. So what did you want to do first?”
“Uh…I don’t know. You choose.”
“Alright, let’s look at the map.” Yesung pulled out a map of the park he had gotten after they had gone in.
“Ooo…how about that?” He pointed to a giant rollercoaster.
Yesung stood in line, eagerly waiting to get on the ride. Ryeowook nervously looked at the ride before gently clinging onto Yesung’s arm. It wasn’t until they were near the front of the line did Yesung noticed the almost death grip Ryeowook had on his arm. He looked down to see Ryeowook nervously biting her lip. He pulled his arm out of her grip and wrapped it around her waist, pulling her close to his side.
“Are you scared?”
“No…just nervous…it’s so high and goes so fast. I’ve never been on a rollercoaster before.”
“Neither have I.”
“What?” Ryeowook looked up at Yesung wide-eyed. “Then why aren’t you nervous or afraid?”
“What’s there to be afraid of? It seems like fun. Besides, you’re next to me. I can do anything with you by my side.” Yesung smiled at the pretty blush painting Ryeowook’s cheek.
She looked up and quickly pecked him on the cheek. “I can too as long as you stay with me.”
“Don’t worry. I’m not going to leave you.” He kissed the top of her head and pulled her even closer into his embrace. “I’ll be right beside you.”
He led the two of them to one of the cars on the track, near the middle so it’s safer but still gets some of the thrill. As the ride started, Ryeowook clung onto Yesung while keeping her eyes shut. Her nails dug into his arm as the car slowly went up the hill.
When they fell, Ryeowook and Yesung screamed for two completely different reasons but as the ride went on, Ryeowook began to enjoy herself. She was smiling and laughing when they got off the ride.
“OMG! That was so much fun! Let’s go on another one.”
Yesung smiled as Ryeowook dragged him off to another rollercoaster. They went from ride to ride until they began to feel hungry. They bought hotdogs and sodas and sat at a little table enjoying their food. They laughed and talked about all sorts of things.
“Donghae, come on.”
Yesung turned his head and saw a girl running and laughing while holding hands with a boy.
“Yesung, is something wrong? You’re clenching your hands.”
Ryeowook reached over and placed her hands over his, warming and calming him, drawing his attention away from the girl. He saw Ryeowook’s worried eyes and concerned expression and smiled reassuringly at her.
“I’m fine, was just thinking of something.”
“Oh…well I won’t ask what it was but it seemed pretty bad. Why don’t we go on more rides or do other things to get your mind off it?”
“Sure, lead the way.”
Ryeowook smiled and grabbed Yesung, leading him to another roller coaster.
By the end of the day, both of them were exhausted.
“That was so much fun. Thanks for inviting me, Yesung.” She leaned up and kissed his cheek.
“Bye.” She smiled and waved before crossing the street to catch the bus. It wasn’t until she disappeared that he realized he had no clue when he’d see her again and that she had taken another part of his heart.

It was a long week of waiting for Yesung. There was no sign of his target and no sign of Ryeowook. He had scoured the city for the two of them but drew up a blank.
He was sitting at a local coffee shop, sipping on black coffee, contemplating something, when he noticed something pass by the window. He didn’t even finish his coffee. He just got up and went out the door, quickly trying to follow.
He quickly moved through the crowd but could never get any closer.
She was slipping away from him.
Yesung paused and sat down on an empty nearby park bench. He frowned to himself, wondering what to do.
Yesung looked up to see Ryeowook looking at him with such innocent eyes while sipping a smoothie. She held the cup out of him, offering him a drink.
He took the cup and took a long sip.
Ryeowook smiled and took a seat next to him. She laid her head on his shoulder and watched the people going by.
Yesung looked at her then the people then back at her, debating on what to do or say.
After a few minutes, he couldn’t hold it in anymore.
“Where have you been this past week?”
Ryeowook looked at Yesung surprised. “What do you mean?”
“This whole week, not once have I seen you.”
“So? Do you have to see me?”
“Yes because I love you.”
Ryeowook sat frozen there while Yesung had jumped up and started pacing back and forth.
“I’m sorry I told you this so soon but that’s how I feel. You keep taking a piece of my heart each time you leave. I figured this time I should just give it to you.” Yesung turned to Ryeowook and held out an open box with a heart necklace resting inside.

Ryeowook stared at the heart necklace, running it through her hands.
“That’s pretty. Where did you get it?”
Ryeowook whipped her head around to see Donghae grinning in the doorway. “What are you doing here, Hae?”
“Just wanted to see you. You seem a little distracted lately. Is it because of the guy who gave you the necklace?”
Ryeowook sighed. “Yeah…I just don’t know what to do about him.”
Donghae smiled and walked over to sit next to Ryeowook. “Well did you tell him you love him too?”

Yesung was nervously waiting for Ryeowook to show up. He fidgeted in his seat as he glanced at his watch and noticed she was a few seconds late. He looked up and jumped in surprise.
“Hi, did I scare you?”
“Uh no, just startled me. Uh…have a seat.”
“Thank you.”
Ryeowook sat next to Yesung.
There was an awkward silence for a few minutes until Yesung couldn’t stand it anymore. He turned his head only to have his lips captured in a brief kiss. He sat there frozen, raking in the moment.
Ryeowook pulled away and smiled before leaning in again to whisper in his ear “I love you.”
Yesung looked at Ryeowook, a mix of emotions running through his head. It took a moment before it really hit him. Then he pulled Ryeowook towards him and kissed the living daylights out of her.
After a few minutes, the two pulled away to catch their breath. Yesung looked at Ryeowook, asking the silent question. She blushed before shyly nodding her head.
Yesung smiled and stood up, holding his hand out to Ryeowook. She shyly placed her hand in his, trusting him to lead the way.

Ryeowook quietly slipped out of Yesung’s arms and off the bed. She quickly found her clothes and went into the bathroom to change. She jumped in surprise when she came out and noticed Yesung up and watching her.
“Hi. Leaving so soon?”
Ryeowook blushed as she put her hair behind her ear. “Uh yeah…sorry if I woke you up.”
“No it’s fine. I’m a light sleeper. I am a little disappointed you decided to leave without telling me goodbye.”
“Oh…uh sorry but uh…like I said, I didn’t want to bother you.”
“No, it’s alright. Just give me a little kiss before you go.”
Ryeowook quickly walked over to the bed and gave Yesung a quick kiss. She tried to move away but Yesung had already wrapped his arms around her waist.
“Nuh uh uh…that’s not good enough. Give me a proper kiss or I won’t let you leave.”
Ryeowook pouted before leaning in a giving Yesung a proper kiss. He grinned when she pulled away, gave a little wave and left.
He sat on his bed, grinning like an idiot for a few minutes, letting his body wake up after such a night. He glanced at the time and got out of bed, getting ready for tonight’s activity.
Yesung secured his mask before walking into the beautifully decorated ballroom. He looked around seeing so many of the rich and famous dressed to impress.
Everything sparkled under the crystal chandeliers.
He slowly made his way toward the buffet, keeping an eye out for his target.
Suddenly everyone got quiet as the lights dimmed. He turned to see two couples descending the stairs, one old, one young.
The orchestra started up as soon as they reached the bottom of the stairs.
Yesung watched as couple after couples joined the dance floor. He stayed by the refreshments, watching everyone.
A couple moved off the dance floor onto a nearby terrace. He slowly made his way over and noticed the couple taking a walk on the garden path. He quietly followed and saw them sit down on a bench.
After a couple seconds, the guy left.
This was his chance.
The blade slipped easily into his hands. He raised it over his head, ready to bring it down, when another blade crossed his.
Donghae let out a little shriek and scrambled to the side to stare at the two crossed blades.
Yesung glared as he recognized his opponent. Before he could say or do anything, a kiss was stolen from his again. He growled while the other grinned.
“You know since you’ve stolen a kiss from me twice, it’s only fair I see who you are.”
“You’ll have to take off my mask to find out.”
“No problem.”
Yesung pulled back his blade and slashed at his opponent. His thrust was blocked and he growled, throwing out another thrust. Block again.
The two circled around each other, thrusting and blocking. Their blades crossed once again and Yesung took this opportunity to pull his opponent’s mask off.
A set of soft brown waves fell around a perfectly shaped face. Yesung could only stare as Ryeowook grinned at him.
“You-you- “
“Hello Yesung. You look nice tonight.”
“You-you were playing me. You tricked me. You- “
“I was doing my job but that slowly stopped mattering as I spent time with you.”
“I-I- “
“I work for your rival clan. I was sent here to protect Hae.”
“Well I was sent here to kill Hae and nothing, not even a passing fancy, will stop me.”
A small dagger slipped into Yesung’s hand that he immediately turned and flung towards Donghae, who hadn’t moved since the attack.
Everything happened in a blur. The dagger was flying towards Donghae and landed in Ryeowook’s chest.
Yesung’s eyes widened and he dropped his sword to catch Ryeowook. All his anger and betrayal left him as he looked down at Ryeowook’s pale face. “Ryeowook. Ryeowook. Wookie! No, why? I-I didn’t want to hurt you. I love you. Why did you?”
Donghae came over to Ryeowook’s side, tears streaming down her face. “Ryeowook…”
Ryeowook looked up at Donghae giving her a gentle smile. “I’m glad I was able to protect you, Hae, and finish my last job. Be good. Stay well.”
Ryeowook turned to look at Yesung with a smile. “Even though it was just a job, I loved you, Yesung. Don’t ever forget that. Please be happy.”
“I’m only happy with you, Wookie.” Tears in his eyes, he grabs Ryeowook’s fallen blade and stabs himself.
Ryeowook’s eyes widened. “Yesung!”
“Any eye for an eye.” He looked at her with a smile. “I can’t live without you.”
He gently kissed her as he lay down next to her. “Now we’ll be together forever.”
The two gazed at each other as they took their final breath together.
Donghae closed their eyes and gently cried, still sitting next to Ryeowook.
Her boyfriend Eunhyuk was the first to find her. He held out his arms, offering comfort. Donghae ran straight to his arms, letting out all her emotions.
Her parents and guards came a few minutes later. “What happened here?”
Donghae sniffled and looked at the dead lovers. “They died loving one another: one to kill, one to protect. I-I-I can’t say anymore. Just please bury them together…for me.”
“Alright dear. Eunhyuk, please take Donghae back. Boys, clean this up.”

A few days after the incident, the two lovers were buried together in a private ceremony.
Donghae stood there staring down at their graves. Eunhyuk came over and wrapped his arm around her waist.
“It still hurts, knowing she died because of me, but I know she’s in a better place now with the one she truly loves.” Donghae sighed and leaned back into Eunhyuk’s warm embrace.
“Cheer up, sweetheart. In only a few weeks, we’ll be married and I want you to be happy then.”
“I know, I know, but it’s just so hard.”
“I know but just remember, she’s still watching over you.”
Donghae smiled and gave Eunhyuk a kiss. The two left hand in hand to begin their wedding places that people had tried so hard to prevent.

Ryeowook looked down from Heaven with a smile.
Today was the day Donghae and Eunhyuk were getting married. The ceremony was beautiful and Donghae was smiling brightly.
Ryeowook smiled at all the love she saw in the two as they were officially joined together.
Arms wrapped around her waist as a kiss was placed on her temple.
“It’s finally over now, isn’t it?”
Ryeowook turned around and smiled up at Yesung. “No, it’s just finally started.”
She leaned up and captured Yesung’s lips in a loving kiss.
